Driver Spotlight: Michael Charron
This month we are featuring our Austin Driver Operations Specialist, Michael Charron. He started with Dropoff as a driver more than six months ago and quickly moved up to help manage our drivers. Read about what Michael loves most about his new position and what has been his favorite delivery so far.
Name: Michael Charron
City Served: Austin, TX
Hometown: I’ve lived in Austin for 17 years, longer than I lived anywhere else previously. But I spent most of my childhood in Athens, TX.
What does a typical day on the job look like for you: As a Driver Operations Specialist I don’t have a regular day of delivering. I’m juggling potential driver interviews and onboarding and just generally keeping up with what needs to be done with our local Austin drivers. That being said, if it gets busy and I’m needed, I do fill in and get out there to drive.
What do you love most about your job: I’ve been doing driving jobs for all of my adult life and I enjoy being on the road. With my new position I like meeting with the drivers and getting to know them and helping them with whatever I can.
What has been your favorite delivery: One day during the late Spring, I had a series of deliveries from the Alamo Drafthouse to Austin-area elementary schools, giving out cards for discounted summer movies. As a film nerd I really enjoyed being able to deliver those to kids so they could get a chance to see some fun movies this summer.
What’s something that most people don’t know about you: I write and direct films, mostly comedies. I’ve gotten to work with some really great actors and comedians and it’s something I really enjoy.
