This month we’re featuring A.J. Sass, one of our wonderful L.A. drivers. Read about how he spends his spare time, his favorite part of working for Dropoff, and the celebrity run-in he had while on the job.
Name: A.J. Sass
City Served: Los Angeles
Hometown: St. Paul, Minnesota
What does a typical day for you look like: I start my days off with yoga, a thrice-weekly hike, and plenty of coffee. After that I generally begin my Dropoff shift with a trip to one of the major studios near Burbank (WB, Disney or Universal) to pick up materials which I can only assume make the entertainment industry churn. My route often leads me to deliver to one of our high-profile entertainment clients, who I usually spend the rest of the day making runs for. Sunflower seeds and podcasts are a near constant, and I spend any downtime with my nose in some book or other.
What is your favorite part of working for Dropoff: I enjoy the little moments – a smile of recognition from regular clients on my route, the laughs shared at the absurdity of modern life, and the occasional chocolate chip cookie compliments of the lovely staff at our bakery client, SusieCakes.
What’s the most interesting or unusual delivery experience you’ve had so far: Haven’t delivered anything out of the ordinary, but have had plenty of brushes with high-profile celebrities. I once held the door for Elijah Wood at our client store, Silverlake Wine. His kind eyes melted my icy heart.
What is something that most people don’t know about you/interesting fact: I am a professional actor, improvisor, and weirdo. I also cook a mean venison stroganoff.
