How Fedex and Dropoff are Different

When we tell people who we are and what we do, we sometimes get the question: “Doesn’t FedEx offer same-day deliveries? How can you compete with a company like FedEx?”

We LOVE this question. It allows us to explain how we’re similar to one of the biggest global logistics companies in the world, and also what differentiates us. For example, Dropoff is a same-day courier service that works exclusively for businesses, whereas FedEx’s core business is overnight shipping and they service both businesses and consumers. Dropoff is also hyper-focused on customer service and we work to make our client’s day easier with up-to-the-minute ETAs, real-time package tracking, reliable and insured drivers, email delivery confirmations and more. FedEx ships millions of packages a day in addition to managing a global logistics infrastructure, making it impossible for them to focus on the needs and timeframe of an individual customer. Here are some other ways we’re different:

Focus

Did you know that FedEx is actually a collection of business units and segments? There’s FedEx Corporation, then there’s FedEx Services, which includes FedEx Office and FedEx TechConnect. There’s also FedEx Express, which includes FedEx Trade Networks and FedEx SupplyChain. Of course there’s also FedEx Ground and Fedex SameDay. But why stop there? We can’t leave out FedEx Freight, which includes FedEx Custom Critical. That’s a lot of moving parts. They’re remarkably good at it, but doing so requires a very expensive infrastructure and lots of overhead. It gets paid for by the customers of every single service, regardless of whether you’re shipping your package overseas or across town.

Dropoff doesn’t run copy centers, own any airplanes or ship equipment to China. We simply show up on time, pick up your package, quickly and securely take it where it needs to be, and give you the tools you need to track the whole thing in real-time. Every resource and every ounce of our energy goes toward making this service the best it can be and keeping costs low for our customers. Full stop.

Flexibility

We are able to compete with FedEx SameDay by offering a wider variety of flexible delivery options. Our clients can choose from ASAP to All Day options, even after- hour, Saturday and Sunday weekend service. This is our sole focus, and our team of drivers work around your schedule to deliver your Dropoff on time, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Technology

We understand the importance of getting your package where it needs to be on time and in perfect condition. That’s why we’ve created tools that makes it easy for you to place orders via desktop or your mobile phone, get up-to-the-minute ETAs, track your precious cargo with real-time live map tracking and receive email confirmations along the way.

Service

The face of our company is our drivers. Their friendliness and professionalism is crucial to our success. That’s why we’ve created a rating system that lets our customers tell us how each delivery went. All of our drivers are background checked, insured, and HIPAA-compliant, ensuring that your sensitive deliveries are in the right hands.

We don’t have the $900 million advertising budget that FedEx and UPS spend every year. We don’t have our name on a basketball arena (yet). What we do have is 100% focus on providing the best same-day delivery courier service in every city we serve. We have a team of dedicated technologists and delivery drivers who care deeply about your satisfaction. We have hundreds of loyal customers who trust us with their business deliveries daily. If you’re looking for a great alternative to FedEx Same Day, you’ve found it.
